About Us

SkillCentred has over 35 years of experience providing services to long-term unemployed, disadvantaged young people and Indigenous communities across Queensland. Since its establishment in 1980, it has grown to become nationally recognised for its capability in delivering training and infrastructure building projects to community organisations as well as Federal, State and Local Governments.

Managed by an independent skills-based Board of Directors, the organisation has well established not for industry relationships and is valued by the sector for its expertise in delivering quality outcomes in a cost effective manner.

Michael Williams

Michael Williams

Board Chairman

Michael has served on the SkillCentred Board of Governance since November 2012 and was appointed as Chairman at the 2016 Annual General Meeting.

Michael is a respected and senior person from the Goorang Goorang people of South-East Queensland, with strong linkages to Indigenous groups across the Fraser Coast/Sunshine Coast area. Until his retirement, Michael had a long career in public life, mainly in the tertiary education sector as Director of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit at the University of Queensland. He is also a long-serving member of the Council of Australian Institute of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) in Canberra.

Michael brings to SkillCentred’s Board of Governance his strong interest in the cultural and spiritual life of Indigenous people through his formal training in anthropology and history with a broad knowledge in Indigenous language use, cross-cultural communication and methods of Indigenous Knowledge.

Alicia GIBSON

Chief Executive Officer

Alicia has been with Skill Centred since October 2006 and was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer in May 2016. Previous to this appointment Alicia held the role of General Manager, overseeing the organisation. Prior to that appointment, Alicia held a range of service delivery roles working with disadvantaged & Indigenous clients whilst overseeing the training division.

Alicia holds a Certificate in Youth Work, Associate Diploma in Welfare Studies, Bachelor of Social Welfare (Youth Work) along with other qualifications in Business and Training. Alicia is currently completing her Masters in Business.

Alicia has held a variety of committee positions within the local community and is also the Chief Executive Officer of Employment Services Queensland Pty Ltd as well as a Director of RAPAD Employment Services Queensland Pty Ltd.

Tammy Stewart

Tammy Stewart

General Manager

Tammy’s background includes 28 years working with Not-for-Profit organisations undertaking the management roles for Projects, Finance, Administration and Quality divisions. Tammy has a Diploma in Accounting, is a Member in Practice with the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers, has qualifications in Administration and is the Quality Systems Internal Auditor.

Tammy has held the role of Secretary and Treasurer for a number of not-for-profit organisations and is currently the Company Secretary of Employment Services Queensland Pty Ltd.

Tammy has been with SkillCentred since 2011 performing the role of Corporate Services/Finance Manager, Operations Manager and now as General Manager Tammy oversees the daily operations of each business division and undertakes business development.
